Abuja - The House of Representatives is set to probe Nigeria
Communications Commission (NCC) and telecommunications
providers over non-compliance with the directive to
deactivate unregistered SIM cards on their networks, Vanguard reports.
The House resolved to investigate the NCC on the N6.1
billion appropriated for the SIM registration exercise by the
National Assembly.
The House said it would also investigate allegation of allied
abuses of good corporate governance by the service providers.
This development was sequel to a motion moved by Oluwole
Oke under matters of urgent national importance, entitled
Motion for the investigation of the non-compliance of
telecommunications companies with directives to deactivate
unregistered Subscriber Identity Module, SIM, cards on their
network.
