OndoReporter | Holy Week: Cleric tasks Christians on prayers for improved economy
A Methodist Church Cleric in Enugu, Rev.
Charles Nwaegbo, has urged Christians in the
country to use the Holy Week which began on
Sunday to pray for an improvement in the
nation’s dwindling economy.
Nwaegbo made the call during a sermon to
mark the Palm Sunday at the Central
Methodist Church at Uwani in Enugu.
He described Palm Sunday, which signifies the
triumphant entry of Jesus Christ into
Jerusalem as ``a journey of an
accomplishment and victory by Jesus Christ’’.
According to him, the power of the triumphant
entry is a journey of an achievement when
Jesus went on a journey to save our souls.
Nwaegbo urged the people to march into the
Holy Week with accomplishment and victory
over the nation’s bad economy.
``This is a period to sow seed of reconciliation
and not seed of discord; a period that we
should pray and seek God’s help to revive our
economy which is in bad shape,’’ he said.
The cleric offered special prayers for the
leadership of the country and urged the people
to make sacrifices in the interest of the nation.
