OndoReporter | ABIA NORTH RE-RUN: Don’t go to tribunal, you’ve no case, Ohuabunwa tells Kalu
SENATOR Mao Ohuabunwa, who was
sworn in for the second time, Wednesday, by
the Senate President, Bukola Saraki, after
winning a re-run election for Abia North
Senatorial district,on March 12, has advised
former governor of Abia State,Orji Uzor Kalu,
not to head for the election tribunal.
Ohuabunwa said going to the election petition
tribunal by Kalu, who came second in the
contest would be a waste of time because the
former Abia governor had no genuine case
arising from the contest.
He said contrary to the claim by the former
governor that he was short-changed, he
(Ohuabunwa) evidently won the election,
adding that he would defeat Kalu at the
tribunal if the former insisted on going ahead
to the court to seek redress.
This was even as he raised alarm over a fresh
plot by his opponents in the election to use
the judiciary to truncate his victory at the poll.
Speaking to newsmen,in Abuja,Ohuabunwa
said there were high- level gang-up by some of
his opponents in the last rerun to truncate his
victory again.
He however expressed confidence in both the
judiciary and INEC.
Senator Ohuabunwa, who is the chairman of
the Senate Committee on Primary Health and
Communicable Diseases, also told journalists
how the activities of some compromised
collation agents deployed by the Independent
National Electoral Commission ,INEC, almost
marred the poll result.
