Davis will play Stuart Bingham in Sunday's final after the former world champion beat Stephen Maguire 6-3.
Playing in his sixth semi-final, Davis took the opening frame but a long-range plant from O'Sullivan led to a 56, which levelled the contest.
It proved to be his only frame as Davis compiled an assured 102 followed by a 93 to lead 3-1 at the interval.
He continued his composed form after the interval with an 84, then added a 65 in frame six.
O'Sullivan, whose win over 18-year-old Luo Honghao on Friday was tainted by an unspotted foul that left him feeling "awful" when told about it, quickly succumbed to defeat.
"If Ronnie plays well I am not going to beat him," Davis told Eurosport. "He was struggling but I put him under pressure. This week is probably the best I've ever been mentally."
Bingham, the 42-year-old world number 15, made a 76 to level at 2-2 at the interval against Maguire.
Scotsman Maguire, ranked 16, who won the last of his five ranking titles in 2013, edged ahead after the resumption.
